Cheap red roses delivery in Melbourne

Cheap red roses delivery in Melbourne – two dozen roses at just $109!

The first thing we look after is WHERE we get our roses from and what shape they are in. It’s important for that they have a strong, firm stem that will support the blooms, no matter their density or weight.

When it comes to picking roses, it’s very hard to suggest an ideal time to do it. Florists across the world still debate whether it’s best to pick roses earier, as thigh buds, or later on in their development. Our own experience showed that vase life is generally better for roses that were picked a little later, when petals reveal their first intention to open. In some species tight buds might turn into a longer lasting bouquet, but at the same time risking not to open at all. This occurs especially during the colder season.

Cutting the stems

After our courier completes the delivery and passes the roses on to you, the first thing you want to do is cut stems (make sure to do it underwater!) and place the flowers in water. The stems should look green and crisp, in roses dry stems are a sign of age.
Keeping roses fresh

Let’s say you ordered roses for someone else, but won’t manage to pass them on very soon. If you want to keep the roses fresh, our advice is that you place them in colder environment. If you have room, a fridge is perfect. After stems are cut and the roses landed into their vase, add preservative every 1-2 days. Add cold water to keep prevent them from opening or warm water to accelerate the process.

Want to try these things on your own? Order white or red roses from www.Melbourne.Florist and have them delivered to Melbourne today! Let’s see, how long can you make them stay by your side?

Facts about tulips: Why are they so popular in Melbourne?

August 24th, 2015

Melbourne red tulips delivery Belonging to the Genus Tulipa of the Family Liliaceae, tulips are some of the most beautiful flowers found worldwide. There are billions of tulips cultivated each year, most of them being exported, as you may already know, from Holland. Most of the tulips that get delivered to Melbourne are from Holland too, and here is a wide variety of them for each and everyone’s taste. :)

Growing from bulbs, tulips can go from 4 inches to even 28 inches high. There are more than 76 species known of this flowers. It is said that their name derives from a Turkish word, “tulbend”, that means turban. Tulips where first cultivated back in the 10th century in Persia. There are some people who are known to have contributed to the discovery of these flowers and one of them who had an important role was Carolus Clusius. In 1573 he was planting these flowers in the Western Europe, at the Vienna Imperial Botanical Gardens. After that, tulips were found in Netherlands too and continued being spread by Carolus Clusius at the end of the sixteenth century. He was so passionate about these flowers that he even had private gardens with tulips.

Depending on the time of their bloom, there are three types of tulips: early, mid and late season flowering tulips.

– Early tulips have from 4 to 10 inches and are usually great for intimate garden species. My grandmother has them too, I remember when I was a child how much I enjoyed my grandma’s garden full of flowers. Tulips appear in early spring. Most common species are Kaufmanniana, Single Early, Double Early, Greigii tulips etc.
– Midseason flowering tulips have almost 20 inches tall but some hybrids can reach even 24 inches. They bloom in April and early May. Some of them are Swan wings Tulip, Darwin Hybrids of Parrot Tulips.
– Late flowering tulips can reach even 22 inches. The vast majority ( Viridiflora Tulips, Lily-Flowered, Rembrandt Tulips) blooms in May.

When it comes to their meaning, tulips can represent quite a lot of things depending on their colours. Yellow ones went from hopeless love to cheerful thoughts and white ones symbolize forgiveness. Red tulips are associated with true love while purple ones mean royalty. The overall meaning of them is perfect love, thus turning tulips into the perfect romantic gift for your loved one.

Sending Lilies to Melbourne as a Gift: Species, Colors and Meanings

July 1st, 2015

Lilies, or Lilium candidum, how botanists would call them, are some majestic flowers that belong to the genus Lilium and grow from slay bulbs. I first saw them in my grandmother’s garden when I was little so that is why I could say lilies are one of my favourite flowers. There are a lot of species, each one with different colours and meanings. Let’s find more about them and why they make such perfect gifts for anniversaries, birthdays and many special occasions!

Most species are naturally grown in the temperate northern hemisphere but they ca

n also be found in the northern subtropics. You should now that even there are a lot of plants that have “lily” in their common name, they are not actually related to real lilies. We can take as example the day-lily (their genus is Hemerocallis) or water-lily (genus: Nelumbo). True lilies have fleshy scales without a protective outer coating and are never dormant. Some of the species are these ones (I will mention only the common name, it will probably be easier for all of us):

– Japanese golden rayed lily (native from Japan, the flower colour is white with gold radial markings and orange spots);
– Orange lily (the one my grandmother had in her garden; it’s an European plant and reaches up to even 90 centimetres);
– Canada lily (native of eastern North America, it’s also cultivated as an ornamental flower in Europe and other places);
– Madonna lily (native to Greece; the bulb is employed for medical purposes);
– Henry’s lily (native of the mountains of central China; has orange, tipped black and unscented flowers);
– Kramery (useful in diseases of the chest);
– Tiger lily (produces edible bulbs);
– Easter lily (plant endemic to the Ryukyu Islands from Japan;mostly used in flowers beds);
– Martagon lily (the best known as the European natives) and Turkscap lily (used to relieve heart diseases);
– Panther lily (also knows as the leopard lily or panther lily, native to Oregon, California);
– Regal lily (plant in groups integrated in a perennial border);
– Japanese lily ( these ones have a powerful sweet honey perfume).

Lilies come in a wide range of colours, each one having a different meaning. So if you want to choose some lilies from our shop and order them for free delivery in Melbourne, here are a few things you should know about their meaning. Lilies usually symbolize humility and devotion, making it the perfect gift for your spouse, especially if you’re to celebrating your anniversary or an unforgettable romantic day. The symbolic meaning of the White lily is modesty and virginity whereas the lily of the valley means sweetness and purity of heart. Orange lilies for passions and yellow ones for gaiety.

Lilies require quite a lot of water (deep enough to reach the bulb), but only once in a while, definitely not often. Try to remove blossoms as they fade and also remove seed-pods when they appear. If you’re growing them in your garden, it would not be bad to feed them with a fertilizer. Once you received an arrangement of lilies, it will last for 2 weeks if not more. And if you like butterflies… then be happy! Lilies attract them, so what are you waiting for? We have a fresh supply of lilies, available for delivery in Melbourne at an affordable price. And don’t forget about our offer: free same day delivery to Melbourne CBD and nearby suburbs! :)

Almost all hybrids of Alstroemeria come from Chile, where they are winter-growing plants, and from Brazil, but here they are summer-growing. Their name is related to the one who discovered them, the Swedish baron Clas Alstromer. There are over 120 species growing worldwide. Alstroemerias are much smaller in size and their leaves are resupinate, not to mention that their families are different (lilies come from the Liliaceae family) .

And what better way to show how much you love them, if not by giving them flowers?

I remember that when I was a little girl, I would go and pick some flowers from the garden outside the house for my mother. I would do this every time I had the occasion because I really liked to see that big smile on her face when she saw me. Well, now that I’ve grown up, I started giving her lovely, more sophisticated bouquets.

Mixed bouquet of gerberas for Mother's DayIn case you want to go for something that still calls for spring, tulips are the ones you are looking for. In some cultures, such as the Turkish one, tulips used to be regarded as a symbol of Paradise on Earth, whereas in The Netherlands it was thought to be the briefness of life. Now, if we look at their colours, the red ones have the significance of “true love” and even though the yellow ones used to connote “hopeless love”, now it represents optimism, joy or trust. White tulips usually go for the idea of forgiveness and the multicoloured ones usually suggest “beautiful eyes”.

Among these, gerberas would also brighten your Mother’s Day. They come in different colours and you can combine them the way you know she likes it most. In case you don’t know, after rose, carnation, chrysanthemum and tulip, gerbera is the fifth most used cut flower. If you also want to give your mom a piece of advice, tell her that gerberas will last longer if she keeps the flowers in water with a few drops of chlorine.

Alstroemerias might not be such well-known flowers, but their beauty would definitely cheer up your mom. These also come in a number of vibrant colours and are a sure choice for this kind of occasion. Alstroemerias would make a lasting impression.

3 Amazing Flowers And Their Meanings

October 29th, 2014

We can bet that at least once during your lifetime you have wondered “What message do I transmit along with this bouquet?” That`s why we picked three of the most popular, yet gorgeous flowers to be the subject of today’s article: tulips, lilies and orchids. They are also on  on our hitlist when it comes to sending flowers to Melbourne CBD.

The fame of the tulips goes long back in history and started around the beginning of the 17th century, in The Netherlands, with a movement that became widely known as “tulip mania”. Tulips were considered of sign of wealth and often traded as currency. A bed of tulips could buy you a small house. However, there was a highly prized species of tulips, which could have bought an entire mansion. We are speaking about the tulips which have stripes in their coloration. These tulips are in fact infected with a virus, transferred by aphids, causing them to lose color and become striped. For pictures with floral arrangements with tulips please visit the tulips section on our website, we have plenty of gorgeous combinations for you! Keep in mind, we’re also offering free flower delivery in Melbourne CBD on all bouquets!

Tulips mean eternal life and represent the heralds of spring. Along with crocuses and daffodils, are the first flowers to blossom during this season, even if there still are patches of snow on the ground nearby. The meaning of a flower arrangement or of a garden can be encoded in your color choice. For example a garden ruled by white tulips can be seen as heaven on earth. Red tulips would be a declaration of true love, cream colored tulips mean “I will love you forever” while purple tulips are a sign of royalty.

In the Greek culture, lilies are associated with birth and motherhood. It is said that these flowers were created from the breast milk of Hera. In order for Hercules to become a god, he had to suckle at the breast of his wife, Hera. Therefore, the milk which flowed heaven-wards became the Milky Way, and the milk that flowed to the earth turned into a white lily.

Christians cherish  lilies as a symbol for innocence, purity and chastity. It is often depicted as „Madonna” while a white lily almost always accompanies the Virgin Mary, in a vase or held by angel Gabriel in Announciations.

Moreover, dreaming of lilies could be a sign that time is right to act upon a long-thought plan. It also means that you are coming into a fuller integration with yourself and developing personal balance. Furthermore, lilies may indicate that you are seeking peace and tranquility.

In any case, if the above have reminded you of someone close, Florist.Melbourne is the place where you can find fresh lilies in many different shades and have them quickly delivered to Melbourne CBD and surrounding suburbs for free!

Last but not least, we will talk about orchids. They are found on the opposite side of the lilies by representing sexuality. Their name is derived from the Greek word „orchis” which means testicles. But there is even more to the meaning of orchids, brief list includes: fertility, beauty, love, opulence and luxury.

In Ancient Greece it was believed that consuming the roots of orchids could determine the sex of the child. If the father ate large tubers of the plant, the mother was likely to give birth to boy, while, on the other hand, if the father ate small orchid tubes, the child was most probably going to be a girl.

When talking about orchids, colors are important, too. For example, blue orchids signify rarity. They stand for spirituality and meditation. A purple orchid is a sign of royalty, admiration and respect. You can offer a purple orchid to a person you look up to, while yellow orchids symbolize friendship and you can easily gift them for anniversaries. Either way, on Florist.Melbourne you can find that special orchids bouquet for your friend, boss or loved one. Get in touch, our florists are always happy to help out!

If you look it up, you will find that roses are associated with Aphrodite, the goddess of beauty and love, whose representation is always accompanied by red roses which adorn her hair, neck or feet. Also, a bush of roses has grown near her lover`s, Adonis, mere of blood. Various conclusions have been drawn in what this myth is concerned, the most famous being related with immortal love and eternal union of soul mates.

On the other hand, the most famous representation of them is the “War of Roses”, a war between the house Lancaster, with a red rose a symbol, and the house York, symbolized by the white rose. Both houses are branches of house Plantagenet and this war resulted from social and financial troubles caused by a weak reign of Henry VI. All these aspects have led to a revived interest in the alternative claim to the throne of Richard, Duke of York. The conflict ended when Henry Tudor, the Lancastrian claimant of the throne, defeated the Yorkist king, Richard III, during the Battle of Bosworth. He, then, married Elizabeth of York, thus uniting the two houses. The period that followed was known as the „Golden Age” of Elizabeth.

However, indication of roses have been found in various other domains such as religion. During the Medieval Age, the red rose was a symbol of the blood shed by Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of the people, and therefore, a sign of his unbounded love. Moreover, his mother, Mary, is often associated with a white rose, and thus, with purity and innocence. From an esoteric point of view, roses represent balance. The expression of promise or hope is, nonetheless, found in contrast with defense and physicality represented by its thorns.
